Benefit held for boy with Chiari malformation

SACO, Maine –

A business in Saco is helping to raise money and spread awareness about a neurological disorder.

Boston Cochrane has Chiari malformation, which is when the bottom of the brain crowds to the top of the spinal cord.

Over the weekend, Massage Solutions on Beach Street celebrated the one-year anniversary of a surgery to help his condition.

The even was called, “A Day of Healing.”

The hope is to raise awareness and help fight the disease and give back to the community.

“It’s scary to go forward with brain surgery on your child. But the support from the community, our church it’s just been amazing and all of these people have come out to raise money and awareness and it’ touching, it’s moving,” said Chani Cochrane, Boston’s mom.

A walk to benefit Chiari is being planned for September.
